and was developed by Signature Properties. The project included a two-level

The Wilshire Center Business Improvement District of Los Angeles
has committed to taking the lead in being the first
Cool District in the nation. The District has 33 million square feet of residential
(50%), office (40%) and
retail (10%) users. The District's Board has approved targeted goals of 2%
carbon reduction per year for 40 years.
Rollins Consulting Services was asked to participate with the AIA's Los Angeles Chapter Committee on the Environment in a "visioning charrette" to develop and prioritize design strategies that will help the District achieve its goal. The design strategies focused on energy reduction within buildings and reduced vehicular travel within the District. In addition to participating in the charrette, Rollins provided narrative summaries of benchmark data and calculations reflecting the beneficial impact of strategies identified during the charrette.
